Palmetto Clean Fuels, an initiative of the SC Office of Regulatory Staff (ORS) Energy Office, co-hosted a stop on the second annual From Sea to Shining Sea National Gas Vehicle (NGV) Road Rally Across America at the Piedmont Natural Gas Resource Center (PNG Resource Center) in Spartanburg, South Carolina.
This year’s NGV Road Rally— presented by NGVAmerica, the American Public Gas Association, and the American Gas Association— highlighted the many benefits of using clean-burning, domestic natural gas in transportation and the variety of vehicles available today that operate on natural gas.
Natural gas must be compressed or liquefied for use in vehicles. South Carolina has seven publicly accessible compressed natural gas (CNG) stations, all located in the Upstate. One of those stations is located at the PNG Resource Center.
This year’s 18-stop, 4,825-mile journey began near Long Beach, CA on June 5 and concluded in Washington, DC on June 16.
All road rally stops offered educational opportunities that highlighted NGVs’ exemplary value proposition, displayed countless NGVs and had attendees that included state and local government officials and policymakers, the media, NGV customers and advocates, industry stakeholders, DOE Clean Cities coordinators, and members of the public.
“Palmetto Clean Fuels is pleased to support this event and the clean energy transportation sector” noted Anthony James, Director of the Energy Office within the ORS.
Also, several Palmetto Clean Fuels stakeholders were presented with awards at the event.
