The Southeast Alternative Fuel Demonstration Initiative (SADI) is a US Department of Energy project focused on increasing the adoption of alternative fuels in the Southeast region of the United States by engaging project partners in demonstrations for public and private fleets. SADI provided opportunities for fleets to demo althernative fuel vehicles at no cost, providing an opportunity to experience the technologies up close. Project partners for this grant included Alliance AutoGas, ICOM, Johnston North America and others. Clean Cities Coalitions throughout South Carolina, North Carolina, and Tennessee worked with technology partners to provide opportunities for fleets to demonstrate a wide range of alternative fuel vehicles.

In South Carolina, Palmetto Clean Fuels (PCF) was able to put fleet and procurement managers behind the wheel of propane autogas (LPG) and compressed natural gas (CNG) vehicles in order to showcase their performance, refueling, and maintenance compared to their traditional counterparts. Seven different alternative fuel vehicles were demonstrated throughout the state. PCF facilitated 38 demonstrations, getting 87 drivers behind the wheel of an alternative fuel vehicle.
